Celebrating India’s Living Textile Heritage.

One Kingdom, Four Cultures, One Vision: The Story of Rukmineeyam.

I grew up in the heart of Thiruvilwamala, where the quiet rhythm of handlooms has been the heartbeat of everyday life for generations.

The story of our region is one of incredible migration and artistry. Centuries ago, under the patronage of the Cochin kingdom, weaving communities from Karnataka were invited to settle here. They were later joined by artisans from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, each bringing a unique thumbprint of tradition to the soil of Kerala.

Within Thiruvilwamala, this history lives on in the distinct settlements of Kuthampully, Eravathody, and Akka Parambu. Each village represents a different weaving lineage, yet they all share a singular devotion to craftsmanship.

The Birth of Rukmineeyam

Inspired by this spirit of coexistence, Rukmineeyam was founded to celebrate the diversity of Indian sarees. We act as a bridge, bringing together the finest weaves from different traditions across India.

Our mission is to honor the heritage and skill of the artisans who keep these ancient crafts alive in a modern world.

At Rukmineeyam, every saree is more than just a garment. It is a continuation of India’s living textile heritage—shaped by skilled hands, enduring traditions, and stories that travel through generations.

Founder,

Rukmineeyam.
